Took a mini vacation recently with a couple of friends to go to Sunshine Key for some spearfishing and beers. This was my third time going out, and my second time going out in the Keys.
Almost everyone in the group is going with bands now, even thou we all started off with pneumatic. The guns ranged from a voodoo (Italian) to a riffe. I was using my friend’s old Cressi pneumatic (which preformed great).
First day started off with us seeing a 10FT Hammerhead coming up to us. We outnumbered it 3 to 1 so it was nothing to worry, but it was still adrenalin pumping. Chris had to poke it to get to leave. After that, the fish slaying started. Chris shot this nice size Hogfish, While Ralph broke in the new gun with a perfect sized snapper.
The ocean was nice and flat, visibility was amazing. Perfect day for a GoPro….expect for Chris forgetting to turn it on. Damn you! But its cool, I’m sure this trip is only the start.
These are the what Raul likes to call, “the non-afternooners”. Reason being, they get on the boat for the morning shift but never comeback for the afternoon shift.
Before we left the final spot everyone took there mandatory fish slaying shot.
Here comes the fun part, filleting the fish while drinking some coronas. The sand-flees and mosquitoes were in full affect that day.
Not bad for day one.
Raul goes hard in the paint. #YOLO
Much needed Vacation.
Happy Birthday Chris and Raul.
